Spiral Arts Collective is led by Jenny Anthony, co-founder and artist. Jenny studied art and design at Southwark Art College, London and printed and knitted textiles at Carmarthen Art College, South Wales. Jenny formed Spiral Arts together with Maureen Elliott, now retired. Maureen studied graphics and fashion at Derby University and worked as an audio-visual assistant, a design studio intern at Coats & Patons, and a screen printer before finally working for Courtaulds as a fashion designer. They met at Q-Arts (now known as Quad) in 2003, completed an NVQ Level 3 in Artform Development and Teaching and qualified as community artists.
Spiral Arts formed in November 2005 and have been coordinating exciting projects ever since. Spiral's studio base is in the beautiful historic Derby Arboretum, in Grove Lodge, below
Spiral work with all ages, ethnicities, backgrounds and levels of ability and have particular expertise in working with schools, early years groups, young people's groups, family learning, special needs after-school clubs, mental health groups and residential homes and day care centres.
Spiral work with the following organisations – QUAD, Fleet Arts, Derby City Council, Erewash Borough Council, Nottingham City Council, Derby University, Play & Recycling Centre (PARC), Rethink - Amber Valley Council, Groundworks Nottingham, Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team, East Staffordshire County Council, Creative Partnerships and Erewash Museum, Derby Museum and Art Gallery and Buxton Museum.
Spiral are on the Approved Provider List for Children and Young People’s Services in Derby and Derbyshire County Council Approved Provider List for Positive Activities for Young People (PAYP)
