We were there to promote the work we are doing in the Derby Arboretum Park and to let people know about the new Friends of the Park group. It was a very busy event with lots of people from a wide area, we had a lot of good conversations. We also created the Diamond weavings again as we like the effect they make.

We were pleased to have a stand at the Mini Maker Faire at the end of October at the Silk Mill Museum. We exhibited our woven lampshades and visitors were able to create their own mini weaving.

More Lanterns for "A lamp in place of the Sun"
We have just finished our "Wright of Derby" project which we called
"A lamp in place of the Sun"
Working with children from Firs Estate, St James' and Gayton primary schools. We made lots of globe shaped lanterns and compared the willow framework to the shape of the orrery in the famous Joseph Wright painting
" A Philosopher giving a lecture on the Orrery in which a lamp is put in place of the Sun"
you can see the painting and read about it here.
We also made some large lanterns which are still on display in the Orangery at the Arboretum Park, as well as taking part in the Derby lantern festival.
A BIG THANK YOU to all the children and teachers who worked with us we had a great time, also A SPECIAL THANK YOU to all of you who turned up on the day to claim your lantern and take part in the procession we couldn't have done it without you.
