Luminate 2025

The Spiral Artists were part of Luminate '25, another lovely community event organised by Friends of Derby Arboretum. We had the trees lit up, a lantern procession around the Arboretum, a fire eater, a drumming circle, and hot refreshments served by St Thomas's church.

Lantern Making for Luminate Festival

We had a wonderful experience at 'Assemble' Oct 25,in the Museum of Making, where we helped families to create beautiful lanterns together. What a lot of creativity in one place—Derby truly shines!

We also delivered lantern making workshops in schools, and at Grove Lodge in half term for adults and children.

All the lanterns were being made to celebrate our Luminate Festival in November.

Luminate Lantern - School Sessions

We worked with 4 schools in October to create lanterns for our Luminate Lantern Festival in November. We had a sticky time with all the lovely school children, the lanterns looked fabulous.

SEWA Group - bird cage display

The SEWA group is run by Making Space Dementia in Derby. We worked with the group in October to make a bird cage display for our Luminate Lantern event in November. The display looked gorgeous all lit up. 

'Make a bottle lantern' video

Luminate Lanterns & Festival

We had 2 busy sessions making lanterns for our Luminate Festival working in the Heart of the Park at the Derby Arboretum. 
The festival was spectacular with Morris dancing and music, and around 200 people attending. 
Also some fantastic light installations from local artists. 
A great evening of on the park.

Luminate Lantern & Light Festival

We have a lovely evening for our Luminate Festival in early November around the Derby Arboretum.
Around 150 people came along to carry lanterns on the procession, listen to the music and watch the morris dancing from 'Chip off the Old'. Light installations were created around the park by local artists and it was a very enjoyable event.
Refreshment and soup were served with the help of volunteers from the Multifaith Group at the cafe.
