Willow Stars @ Alvaston Library

We had lots of fun with families today at Alvaston Library. We created willow stars decorated with fancy wools and shiny beads.

We had a great group of children who all concentrated very hard to make a stunning star. Well done everyone and thank you to the staff.
Spiral Artists Jenny and Zoe had a very nice workshop to end the year!

Tree Haven Project

Last October we delivered a super project in the Derby Arboretum called Tree Haven. It was based on using natural materials from the park to create artwork and involved working with Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity, students from Derby College and young carers supported by Derby City Council.

The Spiral Arts team - Jenny, Brendan, Kate, and Mandy led the sessions with volunteer help from Bhee, Leah, Venus and Tina. It was a busy project and we were able to use the brand new Loudon Lodge building in the Arboretum and Grove Lodge to deliver the sessions.

We held an exhibition of the work over 3 days in early December and were wowed with over 100 people attending. The comments we received were lovely.

'Splendid display'

'Inventive'

'Leaving with a big smile on my face'

'Good to see so many groups involved'

'Really engaged well with the young carers'

A big THANK YOU to all involved especially The National Lottery Fund.
