Easter bags @ GoldsQuad

We had a lovely time working with the Goldsquad ladies creating Easter gift bags.
We used brown paper collaged with coloured tissue and decorated with printed stamp blocks.
They all looked great, a handmade gift for Easter.
 

Half Term Marble Run @ Arboretum School

We had a 3-day frenzy of designing and creating, to make a giant marble run with 60 children at Arboretum School over the February half term holiday.

We used cardboard tubes and boxes, plastic bottles, canes and lots of tape to create it.

We had a mass marble run at the end of the project and captured it on video showing the path the marble took across the whole length of the school hall. The video will be played to the rest of the school next week.

Ladies Creating Together

We have had a busy few weeks working with the ladies from the Guru Nanak Istri Sabha group based at the Indian Community Centre in Derby. We have created woven fabric bowls, batik designs, textured clay bowls, and printed tea towels.

We have all enjoyed working and chatting together, even singing sometimes!
We will exhibiting some of the work at International Women's Day on Saturday 7 March in the market place. The ladies will be joining us to create some bunting. 
Come along and join in too.

Collage Mobiles @ Listen Love Learn

We had a busy session with the parents at Listen Love Learn creating collaged mobiles for their children.

We used decorative papers, fur and tissue paper to collage onto card. Then we cut out chosen shapes, some were fruits and vegetables others cut out animals.

They looked great with the wrapped wool hangers.

Nana's @ Goldsquad

We had a fun session creating wire figures based on the Nana sculptures made by Niki De Saint Phalle.
The ladies at Goldsquad wrapped wire marquees with newspaper and masking tape and shaped their figures into the desired positions on a wooden plinth.
They coloured them with tissue paper. They make a lovely display in the Quad window!

Listen Love Learn Stockings

We spent the afternoon creating Christmas Stockings with the parents at Quad.
We used red felt, ribbons, fur and embroidery threads. 
It was a lovely session with all the children dressed up as elves.

Our annual Spiral Arts trip out took us to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, in Wakefield.
We had a lovely cold day and saw some great art, including Fiona Banner's rotating helicopter wings and Ursula von Rydingsvard's giant cedar pods.
