Lantern making

We were busy making lanterns at St James Juniors, at Madeley Youth Centre as well as drop in sessions in the park.
They all made our Luminate lantern festival look wonderful.

Luminate Lantern and Light Festival

This was a magical event in the Derby Arboretum Park.
We had the brilliant St James School Choir sing 2 lovely songs in the Orangery before our stunning lantern procession around the park accompanied by our 2 violinists, Kathy and Helen and led by our very own, Ice Queen.

St James School Teacups

We had a few days at the end of term to create sculptures for our anniversary celebration in the Derby Arboretum Park.
We worked with 30 children to create 3 giant teacups using chicken wire and gummed tape.
Well done to all the children who helped make them look great. Here are some pics of them in the first stages.

All Around The World

We spent 5 days working with all the key-stage 2 classes at St James Juniors school to create a giant globe to celebrate International Food Week. We also found out that there are around 27 different countries represented in the school, wow!!

We learnt about the continents, countries and ocean, we had a large world map to consult and we had two small toy globes to check we had all the countries in the correct place.

Here are some of the globe-making stages.
