Butterfly Banner for International Women's Day Project

We delivered a 2 month project to work with women and girls on a large banner for INternational Women's Day Event in Derby. We worked with Derby College students, young women with learning disabilities, women at drop in sessions at Derby Women's Centre and women at a wellbeing group. 

The women were asked for their experiences of women's health in Derby and they all completed a questionnaire which will be used to improve health services in Derby.

The project was funded by the NHS Women's Health Hub Grant.

We began working with students from Derby College from the Lexus Group, we discussed anti-social behaviour on the Arboretum and we created collages from magazine about this topic and how we should cherish the park.

Artis-Tree - Textile Trees

Over the last few months we have been busy working on our Artis-Tree project working with 4 different groups to create 4 fabulous textile trees. They will be exhibited in the Orangery in Derby Arboretum in January. The groups who created the artwork were the Young Carers, SEWA Dementia, Upbeat Communities and young people from Derby College.

We used textile techniques such as Japanese Shibori Tie-dye, wrapping branches and block printing leaves.

The project was funded by Living Well Derby City.

Tree House Project with Derby College

 We ran sessions with students from Derby College to create flags and banners for our May Fest on Derby Arboretum. The work really was stunning and made the event very colourful.

Launch 180th Anniversary - Derby Arboretum

We held an event in the Derby Arboretum to launch the 180th anniversary of the park. All the buildings in the park were open with activities taking place in each space. We were making 180th bunting in Grove Lodge, there was an All Being Well exhibition in the Orangery, the Friends of Derby Arboretum were in the pavilion, the Multifaith group serving refreshments in the cafe and the Derby College Group were running activities in the heart of the park. There was a tree trail around the park too.
