180th Anniversary - Pancake Fun

Great time on Saturday celebrating the 180th Anniversary of Derby Arboretum with the local community. Lots of fun with pancake making, decorating and even racing. We were creating a giant zero as part of our 180th sculptures. 

 

Flamsteed Day Centre Project

We have been working with the lovely folk at Flamsteed, in Ilkeston, many of whom have dementia. Its been busy as the group is quite large now, but we have had lots of fun.

Another great session with the Goldsquad group, tissue paper lanterns. They look lovely.

We had a good workshops with the Goldsquad group at Quad end of January making the paper mache birds, they look very chirpy.

Launch 180th Anniversary - Derby Arboretum

We held an event in the Derby Arboretum to launch the 180th anniversary of the park. All the buildings in the park were open with activities taking place in each space. We were making 180th bunting in Grove Lodge, there was an All Being Well exhibition in the Orangery, the Friends of Derby Arboretum were in the pavilion, the Multifaith group serving refreshments in the cafe and the Derby College Group were running activities in the heart of the park. There was a tree trail around the park too.

Chinese New Year - Erewash Museum

It is Year of the Rat in the Chinese calendar, we spent 3 days working with schools at Erewash Museum making Fire Cracker Garlands which looked great. We decorated the museum with them. We also made lanterns on the Saturday to use in the procession on Ilkeston Market Place in the evening. It was great event with singing and dancing, and a procession of many different animal lanterns.
